De cast over wat het voor hen betekent om deze voorstelling juist nu te kunnen spelen.
Amir Sabra: “Presenting this work is a dream come true or something like that! This is what I wish my answer could be. But I can't see anything today in isolation from what's happening in the world! Despite my constant doubts, having the ability and also the desire to present this work confirms to me that I still have hope.”
Rebecca Kaoud: “To perform Badke(remix) now is to reclaim our joy in a time where joy feels like resistance. As a Palestinian performer, this piece resonates so deeply as it’s not just dance, it’s a declaration: we are still here. In the face of occupation, restriction, and daily struggle, the collective energy of Badke(remix) becomes a pulse of life that refuses to be silenced. This piece allows us to say: yes, we carry wounds, but we also carry rhythm, laughter and resilience.
Being able to perform Badke(remix) now, especially with everything happening in Gaza and across Palestine, feels like holding up a mirror to the world. It shows our layered identity; one that celebrates community and pride, while also revealing the fractures and tensions beneath. It’s honest. It’s complex. And in that, it’s powerful."
Rima Baransi:
“The past few weeks working on Badke(remix) have been like a light coming back on that I thought I’d forgotten about. Being surrounded by my community, dancing together, laughing, celebrating one another’s stories, being creative in the purest sense, it has been healing.
There’s something truly special about being able to breathe freely in this space, where our voices, our history, our joy, can flourish without fear or hesitation. It's like finding a place where, finally, the fullness of who we are can be expressed without compromise.”
Bressa Ayub: "Being part of Badke(remix) is really meaningful to me. It's a space where I can express my identity, beliefs, and emotions freely and honestly through movement and dance. This experience is not merely artistic; it is deeply personal. It is a journey of self-discovery, a form of resistance, and a reclaiming of my voice in a world that often tries to silence it. Through this opportunity, I aim to grow not only as an artist but as a human being and to expand the boundaries of my expression by speaking through the language of my body."
Dima Zahran: "Badke(remix) is a journey where I celebrate being Palestinian. For one hour, we depict life, its beauty, its struggles and heaviness. And what holds it all together, despite our tiredness and moments of darkness, is us. It’s a one-hour trip where I feel so much strength and resistance, standing despite all the forces that are trying to silence us. One hour of a claimed freedom."
